Your charges can seep into virtually every facet of your life, from your career to your family and home environment. You need an attorney skilled in high-profile criminal defense in Englewood to protect all that you hold dear.
At Steele Law Criminal Defense, I've been defending clients out of my Hampden Ave. office in Englewood for more than 25 years. I'm well versed in Englewood's business climate and the ripple effects criminal charges can have on one's career.
I will take a compassionate yet aggressive approach to defending your case and helping you move forward.

Professional License Defense for Executives
Criminal charges can severely impact your professional licensure and threaten your career path in the South Metro area. Even without a conviction, charges can trigger disciplinary action and affect your professional reputation.
Whatever criminal charges you are facing, allow me to provide the comprehensive defense you are entitled to under Colorado law. My approach combines managing your criminal court proceedings with navigating administrative licensing board investigations to minimize the impact on your professional license.
I can also explore strategies for mitigating the effects of criminal charges on your career, both now and in the future. This often starts with seeking a charge reduction or alternative sentencing to minimize or avoid a final conviction. Down the line, you may be eligible for record sealing, depending on the charges and whether or not they lead to a conviction.
Discreet DUI Defense for Professionals
DUI charges can result from a single error in judgment, leading to lasting consequences. At Steele Law Criminal Defense, I understand that you are not a criminal just because you are facing criminal charges. My DUI defense focuses on keeping your charges and legal process as discreet as possible to protect your professional standing, privacy, and reputation.
There are many possible angles for defending DUI charges, from challenging the accuracy of BAC testing results to contesting the legality of the stop. I have experience defending all types of DUI cases, including accusations of driving under the influence of drugs or prescription medications.
Whether you are facing first-, second-, or third-offense DUI charges, including misdemeanors or felonies, allow me to guide your next steps.
Criminal Defense for Business Owners
You have dedicated years of your life to building a high-value business. The last thing you want is for your efforts to be jeopardized in a moment due to unfair or unfounded criminal charges.
I defend clients across a range of white-collar charges, such as embezzlement, fraud, money laundering, and insider trading. These cases are often complex, and you must approach them strategically and seriously to mitigate severe penalties. Aside from white-collar crimes, I also provide thorough defense for all types of criminal charges that threaten the future of your business.
I understand that your business affects not only your livelihood but also the livelihood of your family and your employees. One seemingly minor criminal charge can have wide-reaching effects, and I work hard to minimize the consequences and help you move forward.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which courthouse will my Englewood case be heard in?
It depends on the charge. City ordinance violations and many local traffic matters go to Englewood Municipal Court at the Englewood Civic Center on Englewood Parkway. State law misdemeanors and felonies are heard in Arapahoe County court, primarily at the Arapahoe County Justice Center in Centennial, with some matters at the Arapahoe County Courthouse in Littleton. I appear in all three regularly.
Is Englewood still in the 18th Judicial District?
Yes. Arapahoe County, which includes Englewood, is now the only county in the 18th Judicial District. Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln counties left in January 2025 to form the new 23rd Judicial District. That matters because the two districts have different district attorneys and different charging practices, so where your case sits now affects how it is likely to be handled.
Can criminal charges affect my professional license?
Yes, and often before any conviction. Licensing boards for medicine, nursing, law, real estate, insurance, and finance can open their own proceedings based on a charge or an arrest alone, and some require you to self-report within a set window. That process runs separately from the criminal case and on its own timeline.
Do you only take cases in Englewood?
No. Englewood is my base, but I represent clients across the Denver metro area, including Arapahoe County, Douglas County, Jefferson County, Cherry Hills Village, and Greenwood Village. Familiarity with a courthouse and the people who work in it is a genuine advantage, which is why I concentrate on the metro area rather than taking cases statewide.
